This not one of my skills. Image trying to get comfortable with blogging when you remember computer punch card readers as input /output. Well who cares when it is fall and the weather is getting cool for my Huskies.
I will take a few lines to explain my blog site. It is an practice task for a seniors course. The name is part of my story over the past 20+ years. I am in Maine for the cool weather that Northern dogs need and Anika is the name of one of my most wonderful dogs. She was born in Germany and she could be a lead dog, a good team dog, a good mother, and good friend. While living in Germany I was fortunate to have 12 to 14 adult dogs most of the time. As a hobby I belonged to a sleddog club which sponsored several races each year. We also ran in other races around Germany, Austria, France, and Norway.
I never participated other than for the fun but it gave me a lot of joy to spend time training and traveling around with the members of our club. Well back to Anika who lived to be 161/2 years old. One rainy night I was alarmed by the dogs barking which is not common for Huskies. I looked out and saw Anika making her grand daughter, Silva Queen, get out of the dry dog house to take a turn at being the sentry. This went on forover 3o minutes with Anika making Silva Queen get out of the dog house and get on top of the dog house. Silva Quenn would get out then get on top but when Anika went inside her dog house Silva jumped down and into her house. Finally Silva gave into the directions from Anika and stayed out ontop of one of the dog houses. Silva who is just as smart as her grandmother was decided that if she had no choice except to be the sentry she would be a bad sentry and kept sounding the alarm(barking to alert) the others for the next half hour or until one of the other dogs had guard duty. This is but one of the many great times I have had while keeping sleddogs. I do not permit any new litters of dogs since I am getting older and have a agreement with my dogs that I will stay in a cool climate while they live.
When I came back to the Unite States I had 13 dogs but now from the dogs I brought from Germany I only have 4 left. I have adopted 2 older dogs(sisters) who had been abandoned ande really needed a safew home. After a few months the other dog accepteed the 2 adopted dogs but the original loyalties of the pack are strong. I have been given the gift that when one of my dogs have passed I get signals from the environment that that dog has made the passage. Many times the message is from the crows and othe rtimes it is a dream either day or night. One of the most awsome signals was on a cdold winter day herew in Maine when I looked out to see a light brown colored wolf in the woods by my house. Whether the wolf was really or a vision I knew that something special had happened.
Well got to go and feed my dogs yet I am interestesd in what will happen with my on and on possibly boring posting,
Be well with love ande peace.
